Many of you may recognize Darrin Henson from Stomp The Yard, or Soul Food (the series). He also starred in many other films such as: A Good Man Is Hard To Find, (which I LOVE) The Last Fall, April Fools, Tekken, Life Support, and his most powerful film ever, The Express. For those who don't know, The Express was a film based on the first African American, Ernie Davis, who won the Heisman Trophy. Besides acting, Darrin is also known for his choreography. He's worked with Britney Spears, Usher, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Timberlake, Prince and the great Michael Jackson and many others. He has two fitness videos out right now called "Darrin's Dance Grooves 2" & "Get Fit & Stay Fit." Just this past Monday, October 17th, Darrin came to my school (Columbia College Chicago) for a meet & greet. I didn't realize what a powerful speaker and thinker he was until then. He opened up with a poem, but one of those poems that you had to pay close attention to ...it was deep. His words moved me, made me think about how I'm moving and where I'm headed & thanks to him I haven't procrastinated on anything since Monday lol! I got the chance to speak to him, and he was very meek and humble, which I appreciated. The photos below were taken by me, sorry that they aren't that clear, I had to take them on my blackberry because my camera was dead. I will be posting the video of him speaking soon for those who want to see it. In the meantime I encourage everybody to go order a copy of his latest, Intimate Thoughts. If you like reading great poetry ...you'll love it. Mark my word! You can purchase a copy on his website www.darrinhenson.com ... it's only 15 bucks!
